Excavation has begun and the footings have been poured! The garage and back porch were carefully removed to allow access to the existing foundation wall and footings. Originally, our footings were designed to be placed 4'-0" below ground. Given the soil type on the site and throughout the area, footing were revised to a dimension of 30"W x 10"D and placed at 7'-0" below grade. Two positive results came of the situation: 1. New footings tie-in at the existing, which
allows for the existing basement to be expanded. 2. The footings are extremely stable! We could probably build a small high rise on these walls.
